Like most soundtracks, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” is a jumble, but it’s an inspired one.

Most notable, and entertaining, are contributions from Beck, who composed four gleefully sloppy garage-rock raves that characters in the film sing (with Beck providing the instrumentation).

The album also includes 1997’s catchy and raw power-pop song “Scott Pilgrim” from the now-defunct girl band Plumtree that inspired the name of the lead in the graphic novels that led to the movie. Other insanely infectious songs from Metric, Black Lips and Blood Red Shoes add to the fun.
