A growing roster of country stars, including George Jones, Josh Turner, Phil Vassar and Charlie Daniels, have added their names to The Boot Campaign, which raises awareness of the work of the U.S. armed forces.
The campaign, which was inspired by retired U.S. Navy SEAL and author Marcus Luttrell (The Lone Survivor) and established as a way of having Americans give back to the armed forces, has been joined by country musicians Oak Ridge Boys, Jan Howard, Mel Tillis, Lee Greenwood, Joe Nichols, Randy Houser, Gretchen Wilson, Little Texas, Joe Diffie, Jamie O'Neal, Heidi Newfield, Justin Moore, Chuck Wicks, Colt Ford, Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band, Derek Sholl, Joey + Rory and Jack Ingram.
As part of the campaign, celebrities encourage Americans to purchase a pair of army combat boots to wear in support of the troops, with proceeds from boot sales donated to partner charities that provide support and outreach to troops and their families.
